DIRECTIONS FOR ARTICULATION R, L, AND TH-BASEBALL
Play a game of baseball while practicing your speech sounds. Place the stack of articulation word cards in the center of the table. Mix the bonus cards and the strike/foul cards in the pile. Place the game pieces, for each player, on home base on the baseball field/board. Children take turns drawing cards from the pile, and saying words containing their speech sound. The teacher determines how many words each child must say per turn (e.g., 5 cards). After the child says their words, he/she moves their game piece on the baseball field one base. Bonus cards help you move extra bases, and strike/foul cards allow extra practice on articulation cards. Keep track of the students’ runs/score in the baseball game on the scoreboard sheet. Whoever has the most runs at the end of the game wins!
2. You can print duplicates of the articulation baseball cards and play Memory or Go Fish.
3. The six pages for initial /r/, /l/, or TH in syllables allow for practice at a lower level. Use these for warm up practice, or teaching how to make the sounds when a child initially begins speech therapy.
