Product Description

Your student can now say his or her sound at the word and phrase levels. Woohoo! It's time to now work on the target sound at the sentence level, but you are running out therapy materials! Plus, the IEPs are stacked so high on your desk, you don't have time to prep or make elaborate home programs.

Have no fear SLPs, these ⭐No Prep Sentence Articulation Challenge Sheets⭐will keep your students engaged, help them make progress and keep your lesson planning simple and effective. That's what I like to hear a busy SLP.

And, as a speech pathologist with an ever-growing caseload, you want this student to work on articulation carryover skills. That means trying to incorporate articulation homework and self-awareness in your therapy!

The ⭐Sentence Articulation Challenge Sheets⭐ are designed to help your students in the following ways:

❤️ Increase repetitions of the target sound at the sentence level
❤️ Build self awareness of his/her correct productions using visual graphs and reflection rating scales
❤️ Complete the challenge sheets in the speech room and OUTSIDE the speech room
❤️ Practice in the classroom or at home with the half-sheet homework pages

How To Set Up Therapy and Use This Resource

The best way to determine where to begin in therapy is to get baseline testing about where the child is with correctly producing the sound. Use the articulation data sheets on pages 9-10. The SLP can determine if the student is able to discriminate and i a child can correctly produce the /s/ in isolation, you would want to start therapy at the syllable level. By working on the /s/ at the syllable level, it
allows the child to focus on the motor patterns of correctly producing the sound. As the child achieves mastery at the syllable stage, the SLP would move to the next stage of words in the initial positions.

This resource is designed for the speech-language pathologist to use with children that are at stage five of the Traditional Therapy Approach using two words with the target sound. There are ⭐two worksheets per the initial, medial, and final positions of the sounds. Homework sheets that are aligned with the articulation sentence worksheets are included to send home for additional practice.⭐ The SLP can also work with the classroom teacher to use the homework sheet as a quick activity the child can do in the classroom. When sending homework, remember that you want the child to be practicing what he or she can correctly produce. It is recommended to change or cross out words that may be too difficult for the child to practice.

You can use the repetitive sentence frames in this resource to help the student with practicing his or her sound in a rhythmically predictable way. By controlling the phonetic environment, the student can really focus on the sound productions. Using curriculum-based sentences may be too complex at the phrase and sentence levels because the SLP will have more difficulty controlling the phonetic environment.

Have the child rate his/her productions with the visual scales included (pages 11-14) in this resource. You can record your student producing his/her productions and then have the student listen to the recording. The student can say or write down the words that he/she produced correctly or incorrectly.

Make sure your positive and negative feedback is clear and specific. For example, you can say, “That was a perfect L.” or “Oops, our tongue wasn’t in the right position, so I didn’t hear an L sound.”
