Students working on single sound errors at the word and sentence level will love practicing their sounds using the Articulation Stamp Letter Station activity. It will help your students stay engaged and focused on their articulation goals.
Use this articulation station activity when you have mixed groups and need 5-10 minutes to work with the other students in the group on a new skill. That way the student working on articulation is still focusing on his/her goal while you are helping another student in the group.
⭐What You Need For An Articulation Letter Stamp Station:
Playdough or kinetic sand
Plastic letter dough stampers from Lakeshore Learning or Colorations on Amazon
Articulation Stimulus Task Cards from this set
Blank sheet of paper
Alphabet stamps and ink from Educational Insights and Stamp Ink from Melissa and Doug on Amazon
⭐Directions for Setting Up Your Articulation Stations:
Set up an area in your speech room for the student to practice his/her speech sounds. Print out the visual behavior expectations and have displayed by the station.
Review the behavioral expectations with the student before starting the station. Set a timer for the amount of time the student will be at the station.
#1 set-up: Print the articulation stimulus task cards, cut out and place in the lid of the pencil box. Then, add playdough or kinetic sand in the bottom of the pencil box. Put the alphabet letter dough stampers in a container for the student to use. The student stamps out the words on his/her card and then quietly practices the word 5x, orally creates a sentence with the word using the correct sound production or he/she can write in a sentence on a piece of paper with the target word.
Variation #2 set-up: Print the articulation stimulus task cards, cut out, hole punch and connect to a binder ring. Place a blank sheet of paper with the stimulus task cards. Put the alphabet stamps and ink at the station. The student stamps out the words on his/her card and then quietly practices the word 5x, orally creates a sentence with the word using the correct sound production or he/she can write a sentence on a piece of paper with the target word.
When the timer goes off, the student can transition to the next station or the group can transition to a whole group activity. The speech pathologist can do a quick check to see how the student did with his/her sounds in words. This articulation station activity is best used independently when the student has established his/her target sound at the word level independently with 80% accuracy or higher. If the student hasn’t mastered the sound at the word level, you can still have the student do the stations and highlight where they hear/see his/her sound.
