This is a game intended for high-volume elicitation of target speech sounds by elementary-aged kids. Students search for their opponent's treasure by calling out coordinates (e.g., cat, king) on the treasure map grid. With a 4x4 grid of each target sound, therapists can expect up to 32 elicitations during each round, while students are actively engaged in a fun game! Game play can advance quickly with motivated players, and multiple rounds may be played in a given therapy session.
This pack includes separate boards for initial /k/, /g/, /s/, /r/, /l/, and /sh/, mixed position /th/ and /z/, vocalic /r/, and blends with /s/ and /l/. Also included are cover images, treasure chests, and X's for game play. Additional materials needed are file folders, laminate, and a method of sticking pieces to vertical surfaces (tape, Velcro, putty, etc.).
EDITS! (March 2014) The new file contains edits to improve the legibility of game board font, improve sizing of some game squares, and NOW INCLUDES additional 1-page printouts for EACH game board (both in color and B&W) which can be printed for one-time use with students (or sent home for homework!!) using stickers or pen/pencil/marker to draw treasures and mark up maps!
I welcome your ratings and reviews so I can get an idea of what direction to take with this project! =) Thank you!
