PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Follow the zany Old Lady through activities targeting Questions, Multiple Meaning Words, Idioms, Describing, Categories, and Articulation skills. This comprehensive packet includes:

A) QUESTIONS
*Communication Board for objects found in the story
*126 WH- comprehension questions: Students will answer questions related to SUMMER (27), the OCEAN (27), things you can BUILD (36), or things that MOVE IN WATER (36). Answers can be verbal or written on white board. Students can also work on peer interaction by reading and answering with peers, or the teacher/therapist can lead the questioning. (If you want to save on your color ink, you can print the question cards in B/W on color card stock.)

B) MULTIPLE MEANING WORDS
Learn, sort, define, draw, & write multiple meaning words as you have fun with the Old Lady. Students will gain exposure to and experience with 9 Summer/Beach-themed multiple meaning words (shell, sand, fish, scale, fly, wave, clear, cloudy, seal).
LEARN – cards have word and both definitions…can use in a pocket chart, on the word wall, and as an introduction
SORT – sort the two meanings to the correctly labeled ocean…can do as cut/paste or can laminate a set and students match the definitions to each word
DRAW & WRITE – students use a template to write the word, draw two pictures, and create a meaningful sentence using both contexts (one multiple meaning word per page)
DEFINE – students use multiple meaning word cards to quiz each other (can answer verbally or using the white board…students who still require extra support can use the two pages of sorting definition cards as answer choices)

C) IDIOMS
Students will gain exposure to and experience with 17 summer/beach themed idioms.
LEARN – cards have idiom and meaning to provide exposure and teach the meaning
MATCH – match the meaning on each shovel to the correct idiom sand pail…can do as cut/paste or can laminate a set & students clip the matches together (THERE IS A COLOR SET AND A B/W OPTION FOR THIS TASK)
DRAW & WRITE – students use a template to draw a picture, write the definition, and create a meaningful sentence for each idiom (option of one idiom per page or 2 per page)
DEFINE – students use idiom cards to quiz each other (can answer verbally or using the white board…students who still require extra support can use the list of all 17 meanings {shovel cards} as answer choices)

D) DESCRIBING
Students will describe 8 items using characteristics of location, action, category, time, color, parts, weather, size, texture. Using this template they will then compare and contrast two concepts using a Venn diagram (summer/winter; fish/crab; ocean/pool; seaweed/coral).

E) CATEGORIES
Students will cut and paste to sort 8 items into two different categories. Also provided is a mat to sort between 4 categories.
(living/non-living; ocean//forest animals; swim/fly; summer/winter)

F) ARTICULATION
144 Articulation Cards covering vowel + R (12); r, r-blends (12); s/z (24); L (24); multi-syllable (24); vocabulary (12); CH (12); SH (24). (THERE IS A COLOR SET AND A B/W OPTION FOR THE ARTICULATION CARDS)

*Communication page to promote carryover with classroom and home settings
