Do you want to see some critical and higher order thinking from your students during your Social Studies / History lessons???........... Well then get them analyzing some historical artifacts! Whether it's a brick of tea or a Colonial tool - you can use this Graphic Organizer to elevate your students' thinking while analyzing the artifact.
I created this Graphic Organizer to help guide your students in analyzing a historical artifact. Not only does the Graphic Organizer serve as a guide, but it's also a place for them to record what they are thinking. It includes the following parts:
*Identifying the type of artifact (pottery, plastic, etc.)
*Special Qualities (size, texture, etc.)
*Uses (who, what, when, & where)
-Connecting the artifact to life / people @ the time the it
-Similar item that's used today
This is also a great teaching tool that aligns with the Common Core State Standards for teaching Nonfiction - Historical Events.
