Included are biographies about Vincent van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Juan Gris, Paul Signac, Auguste Rodin, and Vasily Kandinsky. Each artist has a biography page including basic information, three important facts, a quote by the artist and an image of a famous artwork. Also there is full page size artwork image and the same full size artwork image with speech bubbles. Use the speech bubbles image for the activity “If the Artwork Could Talk.” After students learn about the artist, have them complete the speech bubble sheets with interesting comments.
I hope you find these biography sheets useful to use in your classroom and to open up dialog about the artists presented. The artworks features are used under the open copyright resources from the respective museums. Artwork featured is from the National Gallery of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
