Use this hand crafted turtle made from tree seed shells as a classroom management tool along with the rhyme entitled There Was a Little Turtle easily accessed through u-tube. I grew up with a jacaranda tree outside my grandparent's house in Mexico. In memory of my grandma and grandpa whom I never saw again since the age of 5 after our departure to a new land of opportunity and the beautiful flowers that bloomed on this tree and the scene they left on my mind when they fell to the ground on the dirt inspired me to plant that tree at my family's home. Having the tree, I observed that many shells fell from the tree. A thought lingered on my mind about how could I possibly recycle that shell. One day I took my daughter to the neighborhood park and as I walked my stress away around the green pasture decorated with beautiful leaved trees I gazed at the grass and found a different shaped shell on the ground. I picked it up and it dawned on me to make a turtle with the two shells. Since they have the jacaranda there also, I sit on a bench and create the little turtles while my daughter enjoys playing at the park after school. I hope it brings smiles upon the children that encounter my creation for the love of my grandparents, parents, trees and children.
