To learn the names and locations of the countries, cities, waterways, and landforms of Asia.
1 class period
The class is divided into two teams. Game 1 begins when a player from Team 1 picks any number between 1 and 9 on the game form. The teacher then asks a question that can be answered by looking at a map of Asia in the textbook or an atlas. (NOTE: questions are provided on the second and third lesson pages which only the teacher has during the game). The first person on either team to raise their hand will be called on. If they give the correct answer, their team gets the space –– “X” for Team 1 or “O” for Team 2. When an incorrect response is given, the other team can try the same question.
The two teams will take turns picking question numbers. When someone is called on, they must answer immediately or the teacher will go to the other team.
The first team with three correct answers in a row –– horizontally, vertically, or diagonally –– wins the game. If neither team has three consecutive right answers, the team with the most answers is the winner.
Play continues in the same way for games 2-4.
Following the games, each student can be given a copy of the second and third lesson pages to do as a review exercise.
Teacher Instructions and answer key included.
