Some students find the skill of asking for help easy. Some ask too much. But more challenging for me is the student who refuses to ask for help and instead doesn’t do the work or does it their way and completely wrong. They feel they are too smart and above needing to ask for help. Or they are embarrassed. My twice exceptionals are this way. This lesson tries to break the stigma those students have with asking for help. We explain that the teachers’ job is to help and that everyone at sometime needs help. It may be easier in the short-run for them but creates more problems later. At the end is a quick and easily self-assessment of why they may not ask for help along with the steps to ask for help.
