It is vital for students to ask questions! Encourage students through the use of the “Asking Questions Graphic Organizer.” Some students may use this graphic organizer for questions that require basic understanding (e.g., What is the brother’s name?). Other students may use this graphic organizer for high-level questions (e.g., What is the significance of the brother’s name). It is insightful to see the types of questions asked by students. You can also require that students ask two basic and two high-level questions!
This graphic organizer can be used as a during-reading strategy, after-reading strategy, pre-discussion strategy, brainstorming strategy, or even as an exit ticket!
