This is a scripted lesson I have used with a tutor. It would work well for a whole group or a small group setting. Students explore how good readers ask questions before, during, and after they read a story. They are given the opportunity to ask questions about the text (Sarah Morton's Day by Kate Waters). They also explore the difference between meaningful questions that are relevant to the story, and questions that aren't relevant using an included sort. Students discuss their questions, and ultimately answer the question: How do good readers ask questions to help them understand what they read?
