This is a poster project/assessment for Realidades 3 Ch. 3, where students come up with a health improvement plan for a specific group (athletes, students, parents, kids).
They present their recommendations in three categories that correspond with the vocabulary of the chapter: food nutrition, general health recommendations, and exercise suggestions. In addition, they use data from websites to support their recommendations, which they present in the subjunctive and mandatos.
This is a comprehensive project, that includes both group and individual work, and tests vocabulaty, mandatos (Uds) and subjunctive (uds) in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It includes presentational and interactive components, with the final activity being a poster sessions where all students present their ides to the class in round-robin form.
The project requires about three days of work, and the scaffolding worksheet provides support for the students as they use the mandatos and subjunctive tenses to create recommendations for healthy life choices. In addition, the project has a second worksheet that provides practice for the oral component of presenting the poster, with a grid to fill out information from other students posters.

Moving towards proficiency-based testing requires a different approach to summative assessments, and this project facilitates a comprehensive assessment of what students can actually do. The students commit to the practice, and, on average, do better with the material than on a traditional test.
