Assessment – How Do Fractions Work On A Number Line?
The Common Core asks students to understand fractions and unit fractions using a number line model, but understanding a number line presents many difficulties for children. Understanding fractions on the number line is even trickier.
Later standards use the number line model extensively for higher level fraction concepts. Before we approach instruction in these new skills and concepts, it is important to assure that our students know how fractions work on the number line.
This assessment is designed to help you determine whether your students understand the representation of fractions on a number line model and are able to use it and build upon it. You may use it after you complete our packet entitled How Do Fractions Work On A Number Line?
