Daily Data... This is a quick and easy assessment to see which students understood the concept from the day/week before or not. You can do a question each day or wait until the end of the unit and use it as a review/assessment. It doesn't line up perfectly to the core, but I think there are skills here that students need, whether the common core says they do or not. There are questions for addition with visuals, inverse operations, subtraction, regrouping, and problem solving. I encourage students to use mental math strategies whenever they can. When I use it as an assessment, I print 6 slides per page and the students just circle the correct answer or I have students write the answer on their white boards and show me.
***My friend printed the questions and laminated them on cardstock. She then used them as a center. Students wrote their answer on a seperate sheet of paper. It's a lot of fun either way. If you can have assessments that don't look like assessments, students are less afraid of them;)
