This is a nine week calendar that I use every quarter for the school year (4 per year). You can write in the date in the left hand corner or simply type the date and month. I enter the textbook sections that I will be discussing in class. I also enter into each box the homework that is assigned for that night. I include in small font any all school activities that are going on for the day such as AP testing and holidays. I upload the assignment calendar onto the school's web managment site for the students' access over the next nine weeks. The calendar allows students the ability to plan and management their academics with other extra-curriculum activities. Students also have the ability to check what their assignment is even if they are out sick! Students are made aware that the calendar is sometimes fluid as there are sometimes unexpected situations that will cause the assignment and/or lesson to be modified.
In some cases, I also provide each student with a blank calendar upon which I keep track of their homework completion. Homework is checked randomly ead week for completion. To save time, I walk around the room and add 3 ink stamps to the current day if they have completed the homework assignment. If it is 1 day late, they get 2 ink stamps for that assignment. If is is 2 days late, they get 1 stamp. I collect the calendar at the end of the week and tally up their points for a weekly homework grade. At the end of the nine weeks, the students will have 9 homework grades.
