The assignment Pink-Slip is a great classroom management tool. Students fill one out when they're not prepared for class with homework, an essay, a project, etc. This gives students a non-confrontational opportunity to explain why they don't have the assignment in class. There have been occasions I've had students complete them and place it on my desk, but when I read it I find out that they're pet passed away last night or that their dad is in the hospital. This gives me the opportunity to say, "Please see me after class," and see if they're okay and to arrange a suitable alternative assignment or due date. It's also a great idea to save these so when a student says, "I know I handed it in," or a parent says, "He/she told me they do their homework every night," you have evidence in the student's handwriting of what they haven't handed in and the reason why; it's a great tool for monitoring missing work/assignment.
The sheet includes two pink-slips. Print them out and then cut in half.
