Included with this download is the Asteroid Impact project, originally intended for 7th grade, but it can be used for 5th through 8th grades if it is slightly altered. This project includes a "real life like" fact sheet from NASA and a task sheet for students. Throughout this project students will be creating and putting together a presentation of their choice about a fictional asteroid that is about to hit thier town (a blank space is intentionally left blank for the teacher to fill in the school's city name). Tasks include things such as: creating a venn diagram comparing asteroids, meteors and comets, researching and choosing a method for deflecting the asteroid, and many more. This project also requires students to utilize their critical thinking skills by convincing others that their method is the BEST possible method to use.
