In this activity, students graph high and low tide data in order to study the fluctuations in these figures throughout the month. Students also add the phases of the moon to their graphs in order to better understand how the orientation of the sun, Earth, and moon at different times of the month affects the heights of the tides.
This activity was designed for use in a high school astronomy class. IT includes an answer key as well as a link to a website with excellent tide data.
