Student Internet investigation that explores the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram and binary star systems. The activity contains two sections. Part one gives students an interactive view of how stars are classified according to luminosity, color and temperature. Part two explores binary and multiple star systems and how initial stellar mass affects the life of a star.
The latest links containing images and data are presented as well for these topics. I use this computer lab as an interactive activity for my astronomy class as part of the "Stars and Nebulae" Unit VII review - but it can also be used at an 8th grade level Earth/Space web quest.
