This is a whole unit on Stars and Galaxies. This unit covers the properties of stars, the HR diagram, the life cycle of stars, black holes, and galaxies.
This package includes:

-"Properties of Stars": introduces students to different measurable properties of stars including distance, brightness, and spectral class. Students are also introduced to the HR diagram.
-"Life Cycles of Stars": walks students through the evolution of a star: from nebula to main sequence to white dwarf and beyond.
-"Black Holes": introduces students to the wacky and mysterious world of black holes. Students will learn about how they form, what their properties are, and some of the weird ideas associated with them.
-"Galaxies": discusses how galaxies were first identified, what their properties are, what the different types are, and how we classify them.
-"HR Diagram": students plot the brightness and temperature of various stars to create an HR diagram that they will then label and analyze.
-"Black Holes": students will create their own model of a collapsing neutron star and determine where the event horizon would be located in their model.
-"Galaxy Classification": students will analyze pictures of galaxies and try to classify them based on the Hubble Tuning Fork classification system.
