This product is about a 4 week long unit that introduces students to the Solar-System. Below is a list and description of what is included. Each part of this unit can also be bought individually.
This product includes 2 reading passages that introduce students to key concepts and the vocabulary needed to understand our Solar-System. Each passage has 5 review questions. It also includes a 3 circle Venn Diagram for the inner, outer, and dwarf planets. Answer keys provided for all handouts.
This product includes 3 interactive notebook entries: 1 for a paper pocket that comes with vocabulary sticks for vocab words, 1 for comparing Heliocentric and geocentric model of the Solar-System, and 1 organizing the planets into groups (inner planets, outer planets, & dwarf planets). A teachers copy is provided along with a PDF Guide to help students complete theirs. PDF Guide includes links to short, engaging, and educational YouTube videos.
Vocab words included: Galaxy, Solar-System, Dwarf Planet, Revolution, Rotation, Ellipse, Astronomical Unit, The Universe, Light-Year, Solar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse, & Exoplanet.
Vocab cards come in pairs: 1 set has vocab word and 1 set has the definition. This is great for matching games during science centers or you can have students write the words (or meanings) on the back of each set.
Science Writing Prompt $5.00
This product is a 15 slide PDF that introduces students to each of the planets and some of the Moons in our Solar-System. It ends by giving details for a writing assignment for the students. The writing prompt is "you are from a distant Solar-System and have to make an emergency landing. What planet do you land on and why? What problems will you face and how will you solve them? And how does your story end?"
There is also an additional assignment for students to make a comic strip over their stories from a piece of computer paper.
