ATHENS AND SPARTA!!!!!!!

This is a great worksheet for introducing the differences between Athens and Sparta! The information on this worksheet compares and contrasts the lives of children.

Worksheet Includes the following!!

*Engaging Do Now Activity with visual*
*Common Core Aligned Document Texts with bolded words, synonyms and guided questions*

--Document Spartan Training

Aim: Today we will be able to compare and contrast the life of Athenian’s and Sparta’s children by analyzing primary/secondary source documents and determine the best answer in a multiple choice question.

Do Now: Students will examine an image of a boy with two Spartan soldiers. As a do now activity, students will be required to analyze the photo by describing exactly what they see in the photo and drawing an inference. This is great for students to activate prior knowledge and for a meaningful discussion.

Document 1 First Borns in Athens and Sparta: This document required students to compare and contrast the lives of children in Athens and Sparta. Students can either work independently or with a partner. After students complete the document, there can be a discussion or this can be a read aloud.

Document 2 Spartan Training: This document delves into the training of Spartan soldiers. Students can either work independently or with a partner. After students complete the document, there can be a discussion or this can be a read aloud.

The teacher can create a t-chart that shows the similarities and differences of both city states.
