In this activity/game, students cut and match atoms that would bond with each other based on their number of valence electrons. Students find a love interest for each atom and glue them next to each other. Great formative assessment. To make the activity more challenging, you can cover up the chemical symbol and have students identify each atom based on number of orbital and number of valence electrons before matching up the atoms. The two noble gas atoms will be left overs and students can justify why they are not eligible for a date.
