This product starts by asking students questions about the atomic bomb and the morality of the decision to drop the bomb. Then students are asked to research the atomic bomb and arguments supporting and opposing the decision to drop it. Finally students will write a position paper on whether or not the United States should have dropped the bomb. This task helps prepare students for real life decisions that aren't always easy and the solutions aren't always black and white.
Included in product:
1. Leading questions (e.g. "What was public opinion in America at the time prior to dropping the bombs?" and "Was a nuclear weapon necessary over conventional bombs?")
2. Essay outline and directions
