This assignment centers around the question "Should the United States use the Atomic Bomb against the Japanese in WWII?"
The assignment is best suited for group work. The teacher will act as President Harry S. Truman and then split students into groups representing the political appointees, scientists, and military generals.Groups will then receive excerpt opinions of people involved with the Atomic Bomb decision and from their use those opinions to form a plan of action to present to the President on whether or not we should use the Atomic Bomb.
Using the plan of action becomes really fun and exciting when you allow the groups of students to debate with one another and what decision the President should make.
