Many of the structure of atoms activities are a tad too complicated and not completely appropriate for middle school. This is perfectly suited to the middle school level, and a great platform - a starting point - for students to understand the basic structure of an atom (protons, neutrons, electrons) as they learn about simple molecules or the periodic table.
This worksheet has students:
1. Identify the parts of an atom in a drawing.
2. Draw atoms when given the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons that are in it.
3. Identify atoms by looking at a drawing that includes p/e/n numbers.
