This is a zip file that includes a 6 tab foldable of men that contributed to our current understanding of the atom model. The foldable includes Aristotle, Democritus, Dalton, Thomson, Rutherford, and Bohr. I picked these 6 because these are the 6 that our textbook focused on so there are others that could be added when discussing the changes to the atom model over time.
For the foldable I had my students draw a picture to show how each of these men described atoms. For example, for John Dalton they drew a circle and colored it in since Dalton believed that atoms were small round solid spheres.
There is also a card sort in this zip file that I created and used with our textbook to actually talk about each of these men. I did not use it as a true card sort with my students but rather printed the two pages on one page so that the cards were smaller. I then had my students read the statement cards and reference their textbook to match each statement card with the correct "scientist." They then glued the cards into their INB as 6 little flip books on the page next to this timeline foldable. I had them glue the statement card on the INB page and then create a tab with each of the image cards so that they could flip up the image card once the tab was glued to read the statement card.
