BUNDLE: Isotopes Guided Notes and Warm Up Activity
Students will be learning about the concept of isotopes and how to calculate a weighted average mass for an element. The guided notes consist of definitions and practice calculations. For hands on practice, students can then perform the Isotopes Activity. This activity can be done as a review or warm up for the next class day. Students will determine all of the components that are necessary in calculating a weighted average mass for an element. They will need to determine the percent in nature for each isotope, and then use the atomic mass to calculate the weighted average mass. Once the weighted average mass is calculated, students will use it to identify the element.
