Description
This is a collection of notes and practices to support a unit on atomic structure.
The notes consist of animated slides and include integrated questions and practice. A student note sheet is included for students to write notes (words to write down are highlighted in red) and to complete practice problems integrated in the notes.
The practice worksheets review information from the notes. They will answer questions and perform calculations and draw models. Practice includes multiple formats to support in person and distance learning.
Topics:
1. Early models of the atom (billiard ball, plum pudding and nuclear), and laws that support it. As well as basic atomic structure such as protons, neutrons, ions & isotopes
2. Bohr model, light, and line spectra
3. Quantum mechanical model and electron configuration.
4. Orbital diagrams and quantum numbers
Notes include:
1. Animated slide presentation with questions and practice problems integrated throughout (formats: powerpoint, google slides & google slides with pear deck extension questions)
2. Student handout to take notes/practice (formats: word and pdf)
Practices include:
1. Student practice sheet (formats: word, pdf & fillable google slides)
2. Suggested answers to practice sheet (formats: google slides & powerpoint)
