Use this activity to review/assess the students’ knowledge on atomic structure and the use of the Periodic Table of elements.
Laminate the 6 atomic models so you can re-use them from year to year. (I make 2 copies of each model for a total of 12. This way students can rotate through more quickly). I place the numbered models around the classroom prior to students arriving. Have students work in pairs to complete the data table. Once students have determined the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the atomic model, they should return to their desks and use a Periodic Table of Elements to fill in the data table and identify the element that was modeled.
