How do you get your kids attention? Hang this poster in your room for a visual reminder (for you and them) for call/respond techniques!
I use this poster in my room, and what I did was glue the 4 pages together. Obviously, the ATTENTION GRABBERS goes at the top. Then I glued "ready to rock, ready to roll" underneath the ATTENTION page, and the "macaroni and cheese, everybody freeze" underneath the GRABBERS page.
Then I laminated it so it doesn't even look like I pasted it together.
I love the visuals on it because if I can't read the words from where I am in the room, the visuals give me a reminder of what to say and what my kids should say back.
Plus, they're fun and catchy. Here they are:
Peanut butter! Jelly time!
Monkey see! Monkey do! (Make a face so they're forced to look at you.)
Flat tire! Shhh..!
Ready to rock! Ready to roll!
Hands up top! That means stop! (Hands on their heads, not in the air like an arrest-style. Be careful!)
Hocus pocus! Everybody focus!
1,2,3...Eyes on me! 1,2,3...Eyes on you! (Eyes on you, LITERALLY)
Chop, chop! Lollipop!
Yakety yak! Don't talk back!
Macaroni and cheese! Everybody freeze!
Nice thinkin'! Abe Lincoln!
Pop, splat! Do you hear that? (SILENCE!)
