### Description

Sorting by attributes is an important skill that helps young learners begin to organize information. With this autumn resource, your students will develop valuable critical thinking skills by categorizing a variety of colorful leaves in open and closed sorts.

Using two lesson plans over the course of three days, your students will sort leaf cards and then create a class riddle book. They'll learn to use the language of attributes to write riddles about leaves. When you use their riddles and the included materials to assemble a class book, it's sure to be a hit in your class library!

Here's what you'll receive to make it easy to write and assemble your class book:

* Printable slotted sentences for your students to complete and then just cut and glue into your book. You'll receive three options: "My leaf is __", "My leaf has__", and "My leaf is__. My leaf has __". Easy to differentiate!

* Word lists of attributes for your students to refer to as they complete the slotted sentences.

* Printables to complete a cover for your book.

This resource also includes a set of six four-in-a-row games, so you can practice working with attributes with your small groups.
