MadameJeFaisTout created this activity for a two-day lesson with 5th grade in an exploratory World Language environment. The French was over the level of effective filter for the students, but allowed them to understand the idea of cognates, making meaning of unknown words, etc. The activity actually flowed best going backwards. There are three activities. The third activity covers four typical products of French/Canadian cuisine and was a good hook for learners. The second activity allowed students to explore the sites of Montreal and Quebec, and the third activity was a story that focuses on the letter "I" sound in French, as well as recognizing many of the sites from the earlier activity. It was well received for 5th grade, but could easily be used for older students.
