This is a combination of two lesson plans to introduce students to the free audio editing resource Audacity. Students will utilize technology and a digital audio workstation. There is a list of essential vocabulary terms to help students understand what audio producers work with each day.
Then a link to a free song download, allowing students to edit audio effects and record their observations of how wave forms change. It is somewhat similar to a laboratory experiment combining technology, computers, music, and audio. Its a sensory delight for students to manipulate songs and become junior music producers.
Each step is carefully stated. Downloading Audacity before beginning is advised. Two separate lesson plan handouts are included. Enjoy! Happy Mixing!
