What awesome auditory memory activities are included?
★ Visual of memory strategies
★ Repeat It Back: A board is provided to use with this game. Students will be provided with strings of four letters, numbers, and words. They must repeat it back verbatim in order to take a turn in the game!
★ Do the Direction: Students will select a card from the pile. They will hand the card to the teacher/SLP/peer. They will listen and repeat (or whisper) to themselves the direction heard. Then, they will follow the direction. Once they follow the direction accurately, they can hold onto their card. If they pick the card labeled “magic show,” then they will get an extra turn! The student with the most cards at the end is the winner.
★ Listening for Details: Students will pick a card. They will hand the card to the teacher/SLP/peer. They will listen to sentences and will be provided with a question. Once they respond accurately, they will hold onto their card. Each card will have a point value ranging from 1-5. Once all the cards are used, the students will add up their points to determine a winner!
★ What’s the Magic Word?: Students will pick a card with a magic word on it. They will have five seconds to read/hear the word, and then they must place it down. Students must recall the word by repeating it to themselves. The students will earn points for recalling the word and using it in sentences. Each sentence will earn a point. You can use a sand timer to help designate the “end of a turn.” The student with the most points at the end is the winner.
★ Auditory Closure BINGO: Students must listen and recall the cloze sentence on the calling cards. All responses to fill in the blanks are on their BINGO boards. The students must listen to the sentence read out loud, use learned strategies to assist in recall, and locate the missing word. Keep playing until someone gets a “row.”
