This past year I many students with limited expressive language abilities on my caseload. Their parents wanted ideas of activities to do with them at home, but so many activities require the child to have expressive language abilities.
This daily calendar is designed to provide suggestions of activities to do at home with children who have limited expressive language abilities. No expressive language skills are needed to complete any of these activities. Each week contains activities that target areas of common weaknesses. Print off the included story and activity companions and give to parents at the beginning of the month.
The first week focuses on name/letter recognition and the descriptive concepts of hard/soft.
The second week targets camping vocabulary and pretend play skills.
The third week targets play/social skills, beach vocabulary, and self/family identification.
The fourth week targets play/social skills, birthday vocabulary, and the location words up/down.
The fifth week targets social bonding and vocabulary with familiar song routines.
