This versatile set includes games, activities, worksheets, resources and task cards to support the teaching of Australian coins in Mathematics. The activities are aligned with the Australian Curriculum content descriptions for Grade Ones in the area of Number and Algebra.
“Recognise, describe and order Australian coins according to their value”
The resources are of course relevant to other grades to reinforce prior learning or when supporting or extending students with differentiated needs.
The set includes:
-Coin three piece puzzle
-“Who has the highest” - game – students battle over the value of coins to find who has the highest.
- Printables to make and play “Coin Crowns” – students wear a coin crown and ask questions to discover what coin they are wearing.
-“Tell Me All About..” - worksheet – students match descriptors (colour, shape etc) to each of the coins.
-“Pirate Treasure” - game – students roll a dice to locate and cover coins on their treasure box.
-“What’s Missing” – worksheet – students cut and paste missing components of a table containing pictures, numbers and words of the coins.
-Sorting mats in the shape of price tickets – you could create a hole and tie through a ribbon to make them look more realistic.

-“Find a Coin” – game – Students race around a board, collecting coins to spend in their shop.
