This resource is designed to assist you in your year 6 classroom while studying Australian Federation and the key figures, events and ideas that led to Australia’s Federation and constitution (ACHASSK134). Students use the internet or texts to research and locate reliable information about Henry Parkes, Edmund Barton, George Reid, Alfred Deakin and John Quick. (ACHASSI123)
This activity can be conducted as a pair and share task or completed individually.
Students sort and identify the key figures of Federation and add them to their Hall of Fame sheet, they then research facts about each person and record them on the plaque below the photo. To complete their Hall of Fame students cut, fold and glue the doors over their wall so that when the doors open the Hall of Fame is revealed.
I find these types of activities are engaging for students who enjoy combining craft, internet research and history.
