Year 5 Australian History - Gold Rush - Eureka Stockade
This fantastic resource contains two comprehension activities focusing on the Eureka Stockade. The first is a storyboard activity allowing students to sort and sequence events from the text into order and then create their own storyboard by drawing pictures to match the events.
The second is a foldable activity featuring five events from the text for which students need to determine the cause and effect.
These activities are an interesting way to learn about the Eureka Stockade and practise comprehension skills. Everything you need is supplied - just print and teach!
This fun and engaging activity supports the following Australian Curriculum content descriptors:
The impact of a significant development or event on an Australian colony (ACHASSK108)
Navigate and read texts for specific purposes applying appropriate text processing strategies, for example predicting and confirming, monitoring meaning, skimming and scanning (ACELY1702)
Use comprehension strategies to analyse information, integrating and linking ideas from a variety of print and digital sources (ACELY1703)
Identify aspects of literary texts that convey details or information about particular social, cultural and historical contexts (ACELT1608)
