Students will learn about the location of significant Australian Landmarks i.e. the state in which they are located and whether they are natural or man-made. Students will also have the opportunity to practice ‘alphabetical order’ skills as the Information Text lists the Landmarks in order, but they are randomly listed on the Worksheet.
I recommend enlarging the Australian Landmarks Information Sheet and Photos to A3, print back to back, and then laminate. Have the children work with a partner or in small groups to locate the information required on the worksheet. The answers are provided in the Teaching Notes.
Give students time to look at the photos of each landmark to determine where they would like to visit. Students then write their preference and explain why on the worksheet.
To extend this activity, children could locate and label the Landmarks on a Map of Australia or research their chosen destination and write a report.
