1901 - White Australia Policy introduced
1950 - World War II migrants begin arriving
1956 - Hungarian refugees flee fighting in their country
1958 - Czech refugees flee fighting in their country
1973 - Chile refugees arrive
1975 - refugees from Vietnam war begin arriving
1976 - Lebanese refugees flee fighting in their country
2000 and beyond - continue to take refugees from several countries
