Description
This writing unit is all about author studies to help develop voice. There are lessons on developing characters and word choice. Students will learn about the writing style of 4 authors. They will practice this style as a first step to learning how to develop their own voice.
The writing skills that are highlighted in this unit are:
- learning about "voice" in writing
- learning about various authors and mimicking the style in own writing
- genres of writing
- different styles of writing based on genre
- how to use an author trait tracker
- humor in writing
- editing for voice
- connecting to events in a story to support own writing
