This engaging activity will be a blast in your classroom as students compare author's in a flip book style packet, closely analyzing author's content, theme, language, and use of imagery. Students will focus on the power of each author's writing to make readers feel something or change readers thinking about the world.
Students will have fun as they learn to analyze an author's writing, state a clear claim, and support an argument with specific details from a text.
This packet includes everything you need for 2-3 days of activity and a comparison of two different authors: student directions, model writing broken down into parts so students know exactly how to write each analysis, four pages of analysis for each author, a graphic organizer for students to summarize results, constructed response as a culminating activity, a Common Core aligned rubric, and teacher directions.
