This task allows students to read a piece of text and focus on clues that support the author's perspective about throughout the text. Students collect these clues and thoughts in the organizer on the left.
They will also reflect on what they believe is the author's purpose and respond with text evidence to support their thinking. They will determine the central idea that is prevalent throughout the text. They will even think about the theme of the text.
This structure will allow your students to practice and think about several important reading comprehension skills. This is generic enough to use on any piece of text - and multiple times throughout the year.
