Are you looking for an interactive activity to use while teaching your students about Author's Purpose?
If so, then this FREEBIE just might be what you are looking for.
All you need is a printer, glue, scissors, Scholastic Book Order Flyers that you do NOT mind cutting up, and ads from the local newspaper.
Simply, print your flap books. Have students fold, cut, and glue. Then the fun begins! Have your kiddos search through old Scholastic flyers to find books covers to be glued down into the INFORM and ENTERTAIN category in the flap book. Then hand them some flyers from the weekend paper to search for ads that are trying to PERSUADE them. Share and discuss flap books and VOILA!!!! A fun way to introduce Author's Purpose!
