Each slide will show a short passage. Students will decide if the passage shown is either written to persuade, inform, or entertain.
If the passage is written to PERSUADE, students will STAND UP.
If the passage is written to INFORM, students will SIT DOWN.
If the passage is written to ENTERTAIN, students will TOUCH THE GROUND!
This is a wonderful way to incorporate movement for your students while reviewing this skill and is a quick visual assessment of their understanding.
To prevent students from simply copying those around them, I often display the slide, give students a moment to decide upon their answer, then count down from 5. When I reach zero is when they either STAND, SIT, or TOUCH THE GROUND.
By doing this, students aren’t able to heavily rely on their classmates to give them an answer
