If you're anything like me, you try to find the most creative, movement-filled, engaging lessons for your primary students. For authors purpose, look no further! This product features a gallery walk lesson where students dissect the meaning of 3 letters "written by my dog" (aligned with anchor text of the week!). Included are 3 letters and a graphic organizer; one written to persuade, inform, and entertain. I implement this in my classroom with chart paper and sticky notes, color coded for each group. Rotating, students should read the letters and decide as a group which purpose it was written for. *Sticky notes can have P, I, or E written on them with student initials for informal check for understandings.* Once one station is done, students rotate to the next one. After all is said and done, students go back to their seats to fill in as a whole group the letter purpose, what the topic of the letter was, and evidence from the text that supports.
My students always want to keep the letters at the end!
You can change the name of the dog from my dogs name to yours to make it personal :)
