Product Description
This presentation looks at the various reasons that author's write. PIE stands for Persuade, Inform, and Entertain. Students need to identify these purposes as readers and as writers. Following an instructional section, students will apply their understanding of the three purposes while reading. Students are then assigned a writing task to write a sentence (or paragraph) that persuades, informs, and entertains. I've included black and white printable anchor charts for posting in the classroom.
