This is a great craftivity to use with any story! After reading the story, students will determine the author’s purpose for writing the text. They will then find text evidence from the story to support their answer. I tell my students to find evidence from the story that proves their answer is correct. Try to use sentences or examples from the story. (Examples: text features, persuasive words, characters talking, the book teaches you about a topic, etc...) Students choose the type of pie they would like for the front cover. Apple, pumpkin, and blueberry pie are usually the favorites! Decorate and cut out the pie patterns. Staple or glue the front cover at the top to the other pages and display in your classroom.
